A FINE WHITE JADE TRIPOD CENSER AND COVER, China, Qing dynasty, 19th century

The squat form censer is situated on tripod feet designed as three mythical beats. At either side of the body the head of a mythical beast protrudes grasping a ringlet handle from their mouths. The cover of the censer is carved in open work high relief with three Buddhist lion dogs. The censer comes accompanied by a 19th century fitted wood stand.
