Catalogue notes:

Virabhadra is a manifestation of the god Shiva that was particularly worshipped in Central and South India between the 17th and 19th centuries. His cult, linked to a particular Hindu sect, became very popular and led to the production of numerous plaques and tiles, mainly in bronze, either in the classical style of South Indian sculpture (as in this case) or in a more popular style.
