FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN VASE, China, Republic Period (1912-1949)

Elegantly shaped with an ovoid body and short neck with gilt rim, it is painted with a scene of a man of letters at his writing desk and an old woman and a child in a garden of rocks and bamboo. In the centre of the turquoise base is the apocryphal six-character seal mark in iron red of the Qianlong Emperor.
