A BURNT ‘CHICKEN BONE’ JADE CARVING OF TWO BADGERS, China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)

Depicting a pair of entwined badgers (Huan) and characterised by elongated brows and short oval ears, their tales of bushy scroll form. The stone is of pinkish-cream colour ranging from black to purple with hints of green.

Provenance: -Private Collection, Germany.

Catalogue notes: Likely low quality nephrite burnt in order to imitate burial jades of antiquity.
