Wunderkammer & Objets de Vertu

Wunderkammer & Objets de Vertu

The new Wunderkammer & Objets de Vertu department has been established with the aim of rediscovering and enhancing rare, curious, and finely crafted objects, capable of conveying the taste, sense of wonder, and collecting spirit that flourished between the Renaissance and the early twentieth century. Drawing inspiration from the tradition of the historic cabinets of curiosities, the department brings together works of diverse origins, functions, and materials: works of art and curiosities, collectible precious objects, artifacts in ivory, lacquer, hardstones, noble metals, artistic glass, miniatures, scientific instruments, and hybrid works that stand at the intersection of art, science, and nature. The selected objets de vertu are distinguished by their exceptional craftsmanship, the refinement of their materials, and their significant historical and decorative value. They bear witness to an erudite and international collecting culture, appealing to connoisseurs, enthusiasts, and collectors in search of unique and unconventional pieces. The department is conceived as a space for dialogue between periods and visual languages, where each object becomes a narrative, a symbol, and a source of wonder, restoring to collecting its most intimate, intellectual, and visionary dimension.
