SILK PAINTED THANGKA OF BUDDHA SAKYAMUNI, Nepal, 20th century

The painting, complete with its silk frame, depicts the Buddha Sakyamuni seated in padmasana (lotus position), while with the left hand he holds a bowl and with the right hand he touches the ground (bhumisparsha mudra), a gesture that recalls the moment of his enlightenment.
