A FAMILLE ROSE VASE, China, late 19th / early 20th century

Shaped like a balustrade column, it is beautifully painted over the whole body with a continuous water scene with fish and dragon characters. The rim is decorated with a ruyi band with floral motifs. The base is enamelled in a turquoise colour and in the centre bears the apocryphal seal mark in red of Emperor Qianlong within a square.
