A RARE FAMILLE VERTE PORCELAIN ROULEAU VASE, China, Kangxi period (1661-1722)

With its classic rouleau shape, it is magnificently painted on the body with a sage riding a buffalo followed by three attendants going to meet a dignitary. The scene, painted with green, yellow, red and bluish-grey enamels, takes place in a beautiful garden under a sky with sun and clouds, among pine trees, bamboo, rocks and bats. The neck, defined by a very fine band decorated with lotus flowers, is spontaneously painted with bamboo and flowers among the rocks.

Provenance: From an Italian private collection.
