A BLUE AND WHITE 'PEACHES' PORCELAIN MEIPING, China, Qing dynasty, 18th century

It is finely painted in underglaze blue on the body with two lush peach branches, leaves, and buds. Above the flat foot is a band of stylized petals, while spiral motifs decorate the area below the short neck.  

Provenance: private collection, Liguria.  

Catalog notes:  

This type originated during the reign of Emperor Yongle (1402–1424) and was revived in later periods, particularly during the 18th century.  
A comparable meiping can be found in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, accession number 14.40.329.
