A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF AMITAYUS, Tibet, 17th century

Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus pedestal, holding a kalasha vase in his hands. He wears a dhoti with a geometric-patterned border, adorned with numerous jeweled ornaments set with semi-precious stones, and is crowned with a finely crafted diadem. His hair is embellished with a jewel, with ribbons and locks cascading over his shoulders. The face is framed by large earrings, the eyes are half-closed, and he displays a benevolent expression.
Provenance: bought in the 1990s from Eskenazi in Milan and since then in a private Milanese collection.
