A PAIR OF SILVER TEAPOTS, China, Qing dynasty, late 19th century

Finely chased, the hexagonal base is engraved with floral motifs and small birds; the pear-shaped body is decorated with cartouches—one side featuring figures in a rocky garden with pagodas, the other with a floral landscape and a pheasant. The lid is engraved in the same manner as the base and surmounted by pho dogs. The spout and handle are adorned with mythical animals and dragons.
