A PORCELAIN QIANJIANGCAI BASIN SIGNED BY YIMAO, China, Qing dynasty, 1895 dated

Finely painted on the interior with a lady leaning on a writing desk with a child embracing her under a blooming frond; inscriptions are present on the rim including the signature of Yimao (義茂) and the cyclical date yi wei (乙未) corresponding to the year 1895.

Catalog notes:

Yimao was a known painter during the late Qing dynasty. For reference, see the basin of identical shape signed by Yimao but painted with a landscape and dated 1892, in *Qianjiang Ware in the Late Qing Period* by Xu Jinfan and Chen Bing, Shanghai Fine Arts Publishers, 2011, page 491, no. 360.
