A WOODEN FIGURE OF SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA, Tibet, 19th / 20th century

h tot. cm 41,5
Seated on a double lotus base in dhyanasana, he holds his hands in dhyana mudra while supporting the alms bowl. On his chest, there is a gilded bronze Buddha, presumably Amitabha, and on his knees, two gilded bronze mandalas. On the back, at the center of his spine, there is another depiction of a Buddha along with two bodhisattvas with three heads and six arms, likely Avalokitesvara, between whom a Sanskrit ideogram is visible, probably an "Om." The reverse of the double lotus base features three carved panels containing depictions of Buddhas, likely representing Prince Siddhartha before enlightenment. He is placed on a wooden stand, at the base of which are the two gilded bronze bodhisattvas that also appear on his robe, and at the center, a niche that likely once housed a Buddha figure.
