Shaped like a baluster column with handles modeled as mythical creatures, the body is painted with sages and their attendants in a tree-lined courtyard, engaged in playing go, making music, and reading. The reverse bears poetic inscriptions with the signature of the artist Gao Hengtai (高恒泰) and the date bing wu (丙午) corresponding to 1906.
