The bowl is finely painted on the exterior with large reserves depicting elegant ladies in a tree-lined courtyard, framed by rich floral motifs. The interior echoes the main scene, showing the two ladies conversing in the same courtyard. The base, handles, and rim, of the 19th century, are richly worked and crafted in finely chased and gilt bronze, adorned with grapevine scrolls, volutes, and imposing mask-form handles.
