LARGE BRONZE AND SILVER LAMP, Rome, Papal States, 19th century

Silversmith Filippo Pacetti (1824–1857).
Depicting Mercury, based on a famous model by Giambologna, the figure stands on a silver base finely decorated with floral motifs and surmounted by an embossed element depicting the face of Aeolus. The god, in an elegant, dynamic pose, holds a three-spouted oil cup, engraved with acanthus leaves and adorned with relief masks. The work is complete with three tools and a fan.
