An important pendulum clock in finely chiselled bronze gilded with mercury, mounted on a base of white Carrara marble, depicting ‘Study and Philosophy’; the two figures are based on models by the sculptor Louis Simon Boizot. The dial is signed ‘PIOLAINE à Paris’.
