LARGE CABINET WITH PLATES ENGRAVED BY BARTOLOMEO PINELLI, 19th century

h cm 237 x l cm 151 x p cm 46
Realised in richly carved walnut wood, the cabinet is conceived as a double-body structure in Renaissance revival style.
The upper section is articulated through three tiers of doors and drawers; the uprights are decorated with carved pilasters featuring foliate motifs and anthropomorphic masks. The pediment is surmounted by a crowning crest bearing a heraldic shield of the Fenu's family, flanked by two winged figures in relief.
The lower section, designed as a console table, is supported by four twisted columns connected by a closed stretcher, centred by a geometric panel with a lion’s head mask.
The drawers are decorated with twenty-six plates engraved by Bartolomeo Pinelli, depicting Roman genre scenes. The lateral plate bears the inscription: “Racconti di 50 costumi di Roma e sue vicinanze, da Pinelli Bartolomeo incise all’acquaforte da Gaetano Cottafavi, Roma MDCCCXXVI”.
