Note: The painting depicts an episode from the life of Saint Bernard degli Uberti, who served as Bishop of Parma from 1106 until his death in 1133 and is the city’s patron saint. The scene most likely represents the blessing bestowed upon the troops before their departure for the Battle of Borgo San Donnino (present-day Fidenza).
