A FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN JARDINIARE AND BASE, China, Republic Period (1912-1949)

Finely decorated in a continuous composition with children at play in a garden among flowers, cockerels, rocks, and bamboo; the centre of the base bears an apocryphal four-character Guangxu Emperor mark in iron red. It is pierced with two drainage holes for water drainage. The tray (probably a replacement) is decorated with flowers and bears an impressed four-character Hongxian mark.
