A RARE IMPERIAL ANHUA DECORATED AUBERGINE-GLAZED 'DRAGON' PORCELAIN DISH, China, Kangxi (1661-1722) mark and period

Finely incised on the interior with a large five-clawed dragon pursuing a flaming pearl, encircled by a pair of dragons similarly rendered on the exterior; covered overall with an intense bluish-purple glaze that stops short of the foot and drains at the rim to a paler violet hue; the white base with a six-character underglaze blue Kangxi reign mark within a double circle.

See an identical dish in the collection of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, inventory no. SN11122.251 (link), included in the exhibition Chinese Ceramics: The Koger Collection, John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, 1985, pag. 172, no. 144, where it suggests that the dish is part of an imperial service and that the style continues the genre established under the Ming dynasty, although the color employed is comparatively more recent and therefore from the early Qing dynasty. Also see the dish in the collection of the Shanghai Museum of Art, illustrated in Kangxi Porcelains from the Shanghai Museum Collection, Hong Kong, 1998, pag. 339, no. 224. Another is illustrated in Chinese Porcelain: The S.C. Ko Tianminlou Collection, Hong Kong, 1987, vol. 1, no. 144. 约翰和梅布尔·林格林艺术博物馆藏有一件相同的瓷盘，藏品编号为SN11122.251（链接），曾于1985年在约翰和梅布尔·林格林艺术博物馆举办的“中国陶瓷：科格尔藏品展”中展出，页码172，编号144。该展表明此盘为皇家瓷器，其风格延续了明代确立的风格，但所用颜色相对较新，应为清代早期。上海美术馆藏有一件相同的瓷盘，图录于1998年香港出版的“上海美术馆藏康熙瓷器展”，页码339，编号224。另一件瓷盘则收录于1987年香港出版的“中国瓷器：柯天民楼藏品展”，第一卷，编号144。 144. 清华大学美术馆藏有一件相同的瓷盘（链接）。
