A SILVER-INLAID IRON SCEPTRE, China, Qing dynasty (1644-1911)

The ruyi-shaped head is inlaid in silver with two dragons contesting the flaming pearl among clouds; the arched shaft is inlaid with the attributes of the Eight Daoist Immortals within quatrefoil cartouches reserved on a wan fret ground above the ruyi terminal. On the reverse of the shaft is a twelve-character inscription in archaistic script.
