Super Mario Bros. (スーパーマリオブラザーズ, Sūpā Mario Burazāzu) is a platform video game developed and published in 1985 by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System. On February 21, 1986, it was adapted for the Famicom Disk System, Nintendo’s proprietary floppy disk unit. Designed by Shigeru Miyamoto as a follow-up to Mario Bros., it is the first installment in the Super Mario video game series. The game has sold over 40 million copies on the NES and is also famous for the music theme of its first level. It is the best-selling and most-played video game in history.
