A CARVED MOTTLED JADE CICADA AND POMEGRANATE, China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)

The carving depicting a large cicada with its wings neatly folded across its back. The bug shadowing over a pomegranate fruit, which is shown splitting open exposing the seeds within.
